Find your boots or go buy some (like I did) and let’s get ready to get muddy! I was out at Lakeland Motorsports Park Mud Hole with Mr. Man (if you follow me on twitter that’s my bf) last week. Yeah, he took me there for a date. I surprisingly enjoyed it. Tomorrow, Saturday (8/29) the mud hole hosts the Reality Redneck games. It goes from Noon to Midnight.

Never seen a mud pit? Of course I shot some video! (or see below)

The games start at 1:30 with competition events like the drive shaft javelin, human tug of war, bowling ball shot put, bobbin for pigs feet (wtbeep) tire discus and what is a redneck game with out a toilet seat toss. Games open for the general spectators are beer pong, mud volleyball, mud football, red neck croquet, cornhole and a redneck waterpark with a huge water slide for the kids.

Also at the mud hole (on the other side) will be a mud obstacle course from 12PM to 12AM… Admission if $15 at the gate for all day or $10 after 5pm (but you will miss so much if you wait till after 5pm). The mud hole is located at 8100 SR 33 North. From I-4 exit 38, turn North of Hwy 33 North 1 mile…

If you haven’t read the story by now, the three youths who placed the explosive devices on the downtown parking garage turned themselves in Monday night. They claimed they were merely making a commercial for a Mountain Dew contest.

The Lakeland Police Department released surveillance video from Sunday morning. It shows the men placing and exploding one device. I’ve made a few annotations and present that video below:

Here’s about five minutes of Rudy Giuliani’s stop in Lakeland the other night. Darby braved the long wait, the reporters and the Ron Paul fans to get the video. She graciously offered it to us.

A couple of comments…the Ron Paul signs threw me for a moment. I thought his bus was pulling into town ahead of Giuliani. Billy Townsend wondered what music the bus was playing as it pulled up to the crowd. I kid you not, I heard “Jesus Christ Superstar” mixed into the “Theme from Bonanza.” Listen for yourself…

I love the way she simply used the TV station’s monitor when they stepped in front of her.

A local videographer has offered to supply this site with the occasional video of local events, personalities, and maybe an original news bite or two.

We plan to keep these videos always under five minutes and they’ll contain no commercials. We might put together a longer video, but we’ll post only a two minute teaser and a link to the longer version. I’ll always post the video length so you know what to expect. After we have a fw of thse under our belt we’ll spin them off to their own URL: video.lakelandlocal.com

Today’s video is a glimpse of the Festival Hispano held October 6 at Barnett Family Park. It’s a quick 3 minutes and 47 seconds of the people and booths found during the day. Enjoy.
