New Southeastern University Entrance to Debut in March

Southeastern University expects to have construction on its Longfellow Boulevard road expansion completed just in time for the National Leadership Forum March 10-12, according to Dane Slaughter, the university's facilities director.

The White House released a summary. It reads in part: The President will challenge students to work hard, set educational goals, and take responsibility for their learning. Durrence Accepts Interim Post

According to a Messenger-Inquirer (KY) report, Larry Durrence has accepted a position as the interim president of Owensboro (Kentucky) Community & Technical College. Lakeland resident Durrence retired as the president of Polk Community College in 2006. Since then he has served as interim president of schools in Texas City, Texas and Lexington, Kentucky. Durrence also was worked eight years as Lakeland Mayor and City Commissioner during the 1980s.

Battle of the ‘Bots

South McKeel on Bartow Road

If you're traveling down Bartow Road near Edgewood and your wife asks if the AMC Bowling Lanes are now an elementary, don't casually answer "Huh?" Instead state emphatically that South McKeel Elementary Academy is renovating the building with plans to expand into it in August 2009. Tell her they plan to start off with 5th through 7th grades in the building. Don't mention you completely missed the huge sign on 98. We've pictured it at left so you can pretend you saw it all along.
