Lakeland Takes First of Pair in Clearwater 8-4

Jordan Lennerton’s grand slam highlighted a six-run fifth inning as Lakeland doubled up Clearwater 8-4 on Saturday. For Lennerton it was his second bases-loaded home run of the season. All of the six runs in the fifth came before the Threshers could record an out. William Bergolla and Michael Rockett each had three hits for the Flying Tigers while Daniel Fields added two more as Lakeland outhit Clearwater 12-7. Jared Wesson took the win working 5.0 innings while holding the Threshers to one run on four hits. The game, played at Bright House Networks Field, was delayed 1:22 mid-game due to rain and lightning. The Flying Tigers play again in Clearwater at 6 pm Sunday. — RECAPBOX SCORE
