Citrus Building Sold to TLC Church

A local landmark found a new owner today when the Florida Department of Citrus building was purchased by TLC Family Church, Inc. Growing through a series of rentals, TLC has moved nine times in 10 years. The Citrus Department building at 1115 East Memorial will be only the second building owned by the church. Dr. Shirley Arnold, Senior Pastor, noted the church wants to “leave a legacy and we’ve got to own to do that.”

With their current home listed at $2 million, Dr. Arnold stated the church did not want to take on that mortgage. On Monday, the church instead put in their offer on the 47,000 sq. ft. Citrus Department building. This afternoon, in an “emergency FCC telephonic meeting,” the Florida Citrus Commission approved the sale to TLC.

“This is a great building for TLC,” said Dr. Arnold, “It has a big sign out front, has theatre seating, and a good AC. It has room for us to grow. From the beginning of TLC Family Church we’ve always wanted to have a prophetic school of the arts; to have productions and make worship CDs. This building will allow us to do so.”

The church has not set a move in date as some code improvements must be completed.
