2010 Week 51

20101218-12The penultimate week of 2010 was much ado about Santa and suicide. We featured the former with video and photos from SantaCon: SantaCon 2010: The Video and The Photos. We also brought you footage of a Christmas flash mob at the Farmers Market.

The week started with commentary about responsible reporting about suicides and ended with the American Federation for Suicide Prevention’s response.

We published a guest column from Sara Rosinsky on A Celebration of Peace at the Lakeland Montessori Middle School.

Bourbon balls, winter packing, workout scheduling and partitioning hard drives rounded out our regular columns.

This week in other local media:

Lonnie Brown left the Ledger after 41 years. For his final column he closed down the Sam ‘n’ Ella Cafe

After 23 years at the paper, restaurant reviewer Trent Rowe also parted ways with The Ledger. His final column was his Perspective on the Restaurant Industry.

Lakeland City Manager Doug Thomas chose Lisa Womack as the new LPD Police Chief [Matthew Pleasant] Evidently, the local police union was happy with the choice. [Jeremy Maready]

The Ledger published their Year in Review section.
