Lakeland Flying Tigers Break Single Season Attendance Record

When Kerri Koesel walked through the Joker Marchant gate last night she helped the Lakeland Flying Tigers achieve a milestone. As fan number 61,256, Koesel pushed the club past the mark set August 26th, 1987. The team game Koesel a free 2011 season ticket for her help toward the new record.

With the team’s 24% attendance increase over the rain-soaked 2009 season, the Flying Tigers management had looked forward to setting the new record during this home stand. “This accomplishment is a credit to the hard work and dedication of our staff as well as our passionate fans” commented Flying Tiger General Manager Zach Burek. “We are extremely proud to be able to offer affordable family fun to our community”.

2010 marks the 60th year the Flying Tigers have been in the Florida State League, the 45th year they’ve played in Joker Marchant and their 43rd as a Detroit Tiger minor league affiliate, the second longest consecutive affiliation in minor league baseball.

Lakeland Local photographer Tom Hagerty shot most of the home games for the 2010. Fans can see the best of his game day photos here. Photos are collected by game date and include special collections for fans, first pitch, and national anthem singers. The latter two collections are a work in process. We plan to have more photos added as the season ends.
