Harrison Student Named National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist

20100329_0237_LauraHarrison School For The Arts student Laura Hagerty was named a 2011 National Merit Scholarship semifinalist yesterday by the National Merit Scholarship program. Hagerty was joined by four students at the Bartow International Baccalaureate school as the only Polk County students named semifinalists for the prestigious scholarship. Joining Hagerty are Lakeland residents Caroline E. Bresnan and Mae A. Valenti and Ethan P. Emery and Cameron A. Johnson of Lake Wales.

2009 Dec 17 Harrison#1aMore than 1.5 million students entered the 2011 National Merit Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test with approximately one percent scoring well enough to be named semifinalists. National Merit finalists will be announced in February 2011 with scholarship winners announced in April, May and July of 2011.
