What DonkeyRock and Richard Land Hath Wrought

If you care about your country, you need to watch this video from beginning to end. It captures a “rally” against the Park51 Islamic Community Center that has people so exercised. A man, described as a carpenter on his way to work at the Ground Zero construction site, who happens to be black, walks through the all-white crowd. He’s made the terrible mistake of walking to work while dark-complected and wearing an UnderArmor skull cap that looks something like those caps sometimes associated with imams — although the ubiquitous Under Armor logo is visible at all times. Watch – and listen – to what happens. Warning: there is some profanity.

This is getting really close to something bad. A couple of guys in the mob have enough presence of mind to restrain the most overtly physically threatening goobers. But, the police presence is less than formidable, and it’s easy to see how matters might have turned worse. It’s always risky to rely on the good judgement of mob leaders. Other news accounts said this was not an isolated encounter.

This profanes Ground Zero far more severely than any religious institution ever will. Those people waving those flags are a disgrace to them.

This, presumably, is what longtime commenter DonkeyRock, who, in his own words, “hates Islam,” meant by “nipping the fundamentalist flower in the bud” and noting “there are lots of possible extenuating circumstances that can be used to prevent the building from going up, first and foremost being protests and campaigns to expose any wrongdoing the owners may have done.”

Are you happy, DR? You’re on the side of the mob. Like Newt Gingrich and Richard Land, and, frankly, like Harry Reid and Howard Dean and too many other pathetic Democrats running from their shadows.

And guess what, people are already practicing Islam at that site this very day. So are you ready to go burn ’em out? That’s the next logical progression.

Bottom line: American muslims not only have every right that every other American enjoys, they have nothing to answer for, or at least nothing that compares to the terrorism and violence record of white Christians. All they’ve done in their time as Americans is form strong families, grow comparatively wealthy, and avoid crime. Look it up.

And this crafty fellow Rauf, the imam of the center, has hidden his seething hatred and terror tendencies so well that he was invited to a Manhattan synagogue to speak at a memorial service for Daniel Pearl, the Jewish reporter murdered in Pakistan in 2002.

Here’s what this hate monger had to say, among other things:

We are here to assert the Islamic conviction of the moral equivalency of our Abrahamic faiths. If to be a Jew means to say with all one’s heart, mind and soul Shma` Yisrael, Adonai Elohenu Adonai Ahad; hear O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is One, not only today I am a Jew, I have always been one, Mr. Pearl.

If to be a Christian is to love the Lord our God with all of my heart, mind and soul, and to love for my fellow human being what I love for myself, then not only am I a Christian, but I have always been one Mr. Pearl.

And I am here to inform you, with the full authority of the Quranic texts and the practice of the Prophet Muhammad, that to say La ilaha illallah Muhammadun rasulullah is no different.

It expresses the same theological and ethical principles and values

DonkeyRock may say it’s all part of the plan. They’ll lull us to sleep until all the pieces are in place. Then the SuperMuslims will swoop down and make us all eat falafel. If so, it’s the same plan they’ve been pursuing in America for more than 100 years. They must be very patient.

  1. Billy, stop swallowing everything the Huffington Post tells you and do some investigation… y’know, like a real reporter would.

    Start here: http://www.jihadwatch.org/

I know it’s scary — it doesn’t fit into your ideal world where everyone believes everything as you do, and everyone possibly sings kumbaya around a campfire — but you might see a different side of the narrative you like to listen to. I won’t hold my breath until you do some research, but your ignorance of the other side of the story is staggering.

Yellow journalism is alive and well, its representative lives in Lakeland, and his name is Billy Townsend.

  3. I’m not entirely sure what’s scary about the link you sent. Can you explain it to me? I am not offended by an imam calling Ground Zero iconic.

And my ideal world is simply a place where a carpenter going to work in an UnderArmor hat isn’t descended upon by a mob you’ve helped stir up with your keyboard commando crap. Just for the record, I want to be clear, you are fine with what’s on that video? And whatever the imam said at the Pearl family dinner is all a scam, right? Those are your positions.

It’s telling that you can’t remotely address the post. You should be defending the mob because these are, of course, dangerous Jihadists or something. Why won’t you burn them out. You certainly lack the conviction of your predecessors in mob incitement in this country.

  5. I’ll leave the explanation to someone more eloquent than I am:

The “Ground Zero mosque” debate is about tolerance—and a whole lot more. By Christopher Hitchens

Again, Billy, you don’t look at both sides, just the side you like.

  7. Don’t know why you can’t own your mob. It’s not that hard. They are fighting hard for your version of tolerance. You should endorse them. I don’t like UnderArmor hats either. Give us both sides.

Oh, and congratulations, you guys got one yesterday. http://tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com/2010/08/ahmed_sharif_describes_alleged_hate_crime_attack_v.php?ref=fpblg

  9. Billy, until you tell me where I endorsed such actions, you’re just a liar. Your reputation suffers when you misrepresent me by attributing actions to me that I haven’t explicitly endorsed.

You’re looking for a boogieman to justify your hate for people you consider too intolerant, Billy, but “I ain’t tha 1.” Your voice grows softer… softer….

  11. Oh Is see, it’s “explicit” endorsement that matters. You have to actually say “I want a mob to descend on a black guy with a funny cap” before you can take responsibility for anything. Typical.

Let me explicitly tell you: You’re mob inciter who sits around in front of a computer 24 hours a day thinking of ways to make people angry at a tiny minority of Americans who have done nothing to deserve it. You throw around words like Jihadi, casually, for fun. I don’t give a damn about my reputation. If I’m on the wrong side of people like you, I’m doing something right. Period.

This has nothing to do with tolerance. It has to with basic decency and what it means to be an American.

You can take your ball and go home again in a snit, or you can keep commenting. Doesn’t matter to me. But you’re gonna own your words around here. I always own mine.

  13. Getting touchy when someone calls you out for the liar you are, ey, Billy? So you know that I’ve never told anyone to attack Muslims, yet you want to blame me for someone attacking a man who he thought was a Muslim. So sad.

Softer and softer… getting more and more quiet with every lie, Billy.

  15. And yet you keep coming back.

I have plenty of confidence in people to judge who’s a liar and who is too much of a moral coward to either back his mob or disown it. Go ahead and hide behind explicit and implicit word play. And enjoy your hatred. You can have the the last word if you want it.

  19. I have more faith in the goodness of Americans. I don’t think the new version of Kristalnacht them seem to so desperately want is going to materialize. I really don’t. Could be wrong but I think they’re more stupid than gutsy.

  21. Blinders and rose-colored glasses may keep you happy , if you’re not already on some other reality-altering drug , be it religion or whatever. Facts don’t lie – many people do. I’ll keep a sensible , logical , cynical perspective when i hear or see the word “goodness” tossed around. Experience has taught me that much , for sure ! Religious hypocrisy. Pah !
