Nobody, and I mean nobody, gets to question the honor and decency of Donkeyrock but me. Judofish, not so much. Seriously, punching the anonymous commentor ejector seat button? If you take Donkeyrock and Judofish away from us, what do we have left?
Seriously, I think anyone reading this very useful exchange between Bob O’Malley and me can judge for themselves who is “incorrect” and who isn’t. Bob is quibbling non-specifically around the margins of the numbers. What you don’t see is any rebuttal to the central thrust of my point: CSX got a ridiculously better deal for itself in politically conservative Florida than it did in socialist Massachusetts. I think this reflects how conservatism tends to play out in the real world.
And CSX shouldn’t be embarrassed about it. I would have raked Florida over the coals, too, if enriching my shareholders was the prime point of my existence. It’s like blaming an ant for stinging you. It’s up to the people working on our behalf to actually work on our behalf, and it’s up to us, as voters, to be informed enough to recognize when they are not.
