Pancake Festival Today at Tigertown
The weather is a bit chilly, but that hasn’t stopped the Lakeland Pancake Festival. Kiwanis members, students, and other volunteers invaded Tigertown before the sun rose to start making pancakes, sausages, coffee, and orange juice for hungry Lakelanders.
Last year the festival hosted 8,127 people, 14 shy of the 2004 record. It took 2,500 pounds of dry batter, 120 gallons of syrup, and 2,800 pounds of sausage to feed the hungry crowds.
In addition to the food, the SPCA, US Census, Lakeland Police Department and others have set up information booths. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children. The festival ends at 7 pm tonight. (Directions to Tigertown)
