It’s a sad day when we as tax payers have to fork out more tax dollars to have a run-off election just because a candidate did not get more than 50% of the vote. The people have already spoken! Give the win to the one with the most votes!

Democracy lives or dies with the participation of the voters. It should not be restrained by concerns over tax dollar expenditure. If more people got out and voted in the first place, this run-off might not have been necessary. The sad part about this election would seem to be the low turnout. This reflects poorly on the electorate as well as the electors. Apathy is the death of freedom.
