A Rail Meeting to Attend

In a move reminiscent of the Hair tune, Initials (L.B.J.), the FDOT invites you to a PIM to study the FEIS for the FHSR.

In English, the Florida Department of Transportation is hosting a Public Information meeting to showcase the changes made to the Final Environmental Impact Statement for the Florida High Speed Rail project.

The meeting is Wednesday, September 16th from 4pm to 7pm at the Lakeland Center Sikes Hall. It behooves you to stop in and take a quick look at your tax dollars at work.

Don’t cringe. It isn’t a three hour meeting. As the FDOT succinctly explains:

The meetings will be conducted in an “open house” format with a slide presentation (continuously showing), project materials, and aerial photography available for public review. FDOT staff and their representatives will be available to to answer your questions and discuss changes in the project and environmental impacts that have occurred since the FEIS was published in July 2005.

The key is that “FDOT staff and their representatives will be available to to answer your questions.” Go. Ask. Become an informed citizen, and when the High Speed Rail is debated, you’ll have a few facts on hand.
