Through their front office in Sanford, the Seminole County Naturals of the Florida Winter Baseball League (FWBL) have announced the hiring of Lakeland Flying Tigers Manager Andy Barkett as their first Field Manager.
At this time, The Lakeland Flying Tigers haven’t commented on their hiring. The lack of comment shouldn’t give the impression the hiring will affect Barkett’s position as Manager of the Flying Tigers. Managers often take Winter League assignments without the winter job affecting their summer league positions. Lakeland Local will update this article if any new information is released.
Starting their first season in October, the FWBL is winter league with four teams: Lake County Black Bears, Miami Diamantes, Seminole County Naturals and Space Coast Surge. According to the FWBL, the league caters to the Rookie and Single A level professional baseball market. Traditionally, Winter leagues play in the Caribbean and South America. Headquartered in Miami, the FWBL is looking to be an U.S. alternative to those Winter markets.
