Letter Writing Campaign Announced to Save Lakeland Mail Center

The United States Postal Service has proposed closing the Lakeland Processing and Distribution Center and moving operations to Tampa. Those affected have added a letter writing campaign to their efforts to stop the move. They have started sending copies of the letter below to city, state, and national representatives.

Re: AMP Proposal to move Mail Processing from Lakeland to Tampa

I, _______________________________, a resident of _____________________________ located within the 338 zip code area, do not want the United States Postal Service to move any mail processing operations out of our Lakeland Processing and Distribution Center to the Tampa Plant. I do not want the USPS to change the Lakeland postmark to a Tampa postmark on ANY mail sent from our 338 processing area.

I am requesting that the United States Postal Service immediately cease its efforts with the Area Mail Processing (AMP) and all actions resulting in including moving our mail to Tampa and losing the Lakeland postmark.

Your immediate attention to this issue will greatly be appreciated.

Thank you.
