Since my second love is dance, I wanted to extol the virtues (and virtuosity) of a dance company that is coming to Branscomb Auditorium at Florida Southern College this Saturday as a part of their Festival of Fine Arts. I saw Hubbard Street Dance Chicago at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center last year, and they were outstanding. Absolutely worth the price. I even took a friend with me — one who isn’t so into dance as I am — and she enjoyed it.
So I was really happy to hear they were going to be a little closer to home this year. Unfortunately for me, the ticket price is a little out of my currently super-tight budget: $35 per person. It’s a very reasonable price. I only wish I was an FSC student so I could get in free!
But whether or not I can go, you should! It’s going to be great.
On a similar note, Polk County’s own (and only) professional dance company, Florida Dance Theatre, will be performing at All Saint’s Academy next weekend. FDT is headquarted in downtown Lakeland. I could actually afford to go see them perform, but I have to work…
