It’s nice to know that even in these economic times, there are businesses out there that are still able — and, more importantly, willing — to support local arts and non-profit organizations. And given how hard most of the banking industry has been hit, it’s an especially big piece of news when you find out that a bank has just signed on to be a big-time sponsor of an event for the next ten years!
Well, that’s exactly what MIDFLORIDA Federal Credit Union has agreed to do. Polk Museum of Art and MIDFLORIDA announced today that Mayfaire by-the-Lake, the Museum’s annual outdoor art festival, will now be called MIDFLORIDA Mayfaire by-the-Lake.
You may recall that the event has been called Volvo Mayfaire by-the-Lake for the last five years. Unfortunately, when Volvo decided it would no longer have dealer representation in Lakeland, that brand’s sponsorship of the event was unable to be renewed. That’s when PMoA approached MIDFLORIDA. and this new partnership deal was struck.
Other than the name change, the festival will remain the same: more than 180 artists around Lake Morton on Mother’s Day weeked. It’ll be hot. It’ll be big. But I bet you’re still going to come browse the artists tents…
