The Arts in Lakeland

Polk TheatreSupporting the arts in Lakeland is one of our core values. To that end, we’ve created The Arts in Lakeland. Our companion site will feature posts from those responsible for bringing the best of music, art, theatre, dance, film, and other creative outlets for Lakelanders. A list of the latest Arts in Lakeland posts will also appear on the front page of Lakeland Local.

Our first Arts blogger is Meredith Spresser from the Polk Museum of Art. In addition to PMoA news, Spresser has already posted about Lakeland’s Florida Dance Theatre, Polk County’s only professional company.

We’re slowly rolling out the new site. In addition to Spresser, the current Lakeland Local contributors may occasionally add articles. We’re also inviting anyone interested in the Lakeland arts scene to contribute. Just comment below with an email address and I’ll get in touch.

We’d also love if any Lakeland bands interested in promoting their shows drop us a comment. We’ll set you up with the tools to post show dates, band news, and such. All free of course. The Arts in Lakeland will not carry advertisements or charge to post.

We’ll have more news about The Arts in Lakeland as we add features and writers. Until then check out the site, and don’t forget the Lakeland Calendar for listings of Lakeland events.

  1. Hi Chuck,
Nice site. I play acoustic fingerstyle guitar every Sunday at the Black & Brew from 12 noon to 2 PM. I would love to be included each week on the calendar.
    Thanks,
    Tom

  3. This Friday night in Downtown Lakeland Arts on the Park is hosting the Holiday Arts Fest as part of the DLP’s larger event. About a dozen artists are setting up their booths in front of the AOP gallery (115 N Kentucky Avenue) to exhibit and sell their work. It starts at 4 pm and will run until 9 pm. The larger event, hosted by the Downtown Lakeland Partnership, starts at 6:00 pm with music and other activities throughout Downtown.
