Reading Aloud – A Lakeland Minute

Lakeland Minutes are 60 seconds of video from a point and time in Lakeland, Florida. Usually they simply show a bit of our daily life, but occasionally they’ll cover a specific event.

There was no microphone, no sitting audience – participants read from a passage of their choice from a book of their choice in a normal voice to passers-by. Both my daughter and I read books for the organizer, my wife. (That’s not her in the video.) The event was covered by local tv, radio, and print media. It also sparked quite a controversy on one local forum.
