Breaking News From Central Florida Eurocars

FloridaI put the V-Dub in the shop today for routine maintenance and while waiting for them to wrap up the work, I learned that Central Florida Eurocars is eliminating the Volvo and Subaru portion of the dealership. The brands have not been selling well, so they are being eliminated. CFE will focus all of its efforts on the VW and Mercedes brands.

There will be some good deals to be had on the inventory on the lot. The only down side will be that owners will have to go to another authorized dealership to have warranty work done.

No word on what this means in the way of employee lay-offs. I hear there may be something in The Ledger on Saturday.

Update: Volvo and Subaru of Central Florida is liquidating its inventory. Effective October 31, Central Florida Eurocars will permanently close its Volvo and Subaru dealerships.  Each of the termination agreements require that they liquidate their inventory.  Although the factories will ultimately repurchase all unsold vehicles, they have both asked that CFE sell as much of the inventory as possible prior to scheduled closing.

Beginning November 1, Volvo and Subaru vehicles will need to be serviced by other manufacturer-authorized service centers.

The dealership will continue to sell and service Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen and pre-owned vehicles without interruption.

  1. Not that surprising, on a national level when comparing Volvo sales in September 2007 to sales in September 2008, there was a 52% decrease.

  2. Great scoop, Lorrie. The Ledger didn’t have this story until today.
