The Dark Romantics – Heartbreaker

Before you get the wrong idea, the Dark Romantics have not covered the Pat Benatar hymn to lust in the 80s.(1)

Heartbreaker is, however, the band’s latest album. On September 18th, they’ll have a CD release house party to celebrate. The show is at Camp Fire USA (2600 Buckingham Ave). It’s a $5 all ages show with special guests Dignan, Mike Dunn & the Kings of New England (2), and Terra Terra Terra (3)

As I once mentioned, you’ll almost never get a music review from me. You can write your own after listening to the new singles Lets Ride and Heartbreaker at the band’s Myspace page. Make sure you mention Lakeland’s moody dark side.

(1) Note to dancing teens: neither is it a remake of Will.i.Am’s Heartbreaker
(1a) Note to Mariah Carey fans: Seriously, you thought they covered her?
(1b) Note to old guys who can air guitar to every Led Zeppelin riff – not their song either.
(1c) If you immediately thought of the Bee Gees or Dionne Warwick, then we need to have a little sit down.

(2) Who else wants to call that band “The Future Kings of England?”
(2a) I’m guessing their name is from “The Cider House Rules”

(3) Tell me you didn’t think “Tony! Toni! TonĂ©!” No? OK, I realize I’m older than you. Don’t rub it in.
(3a) Extra points if you thought Tora! Tora! Tora!. (Who’s old now?)

  1. Mr. Welch, you sir, are officially invited to the house party. Thank you for the write up, and the humor! (and don’t think I didn’t notice you posted this @ 11pm…very “dark” of you)
