Power Out in South Lake Morton and Lake Hollingsworth Area

Evidently a transformer blew near Southgate Shopping Center. Knocked power out from Edgewood North to at least parts of South Lake Morton.

Yes. I’m typing by the light of the monitor.

Update: 8:56….That’s the longest we’ve been without power in three years. Back in Louisville, that would happen 3-4 times a tornado season.

Update: Four flickers, and then off again about 10:52. I guess the new transformer couldn’t handle the load. Back on at 11:07. Not bad, but I’m going to bed early. If it goes off again, I won’t notice.

  1. Power went off over here at Lake Hunter Terrace on the same timeline.

  3. I was in Publix at Southgate when the power went out.

You haven’t stumbled around in the dark until you’ve stumbled near hundreds of containers of yogurt.

Curiously enough, the overhead lights weren’t part of the emergency power generator, but the intercom/radio was. It’s kind of surreal blindly wandering about a darkened supermarket with no noise other than an Muzak. Like a B-Horror film.
