The Ledger had a story about today’s cable channel shift, Polk TV Channel Lineup Changing, but they didn’t include a chart showing who moved where. Of course, they were kind enough to mention you could go to Brighthouse for the new lineup. I’ll save you a couple of clicks: The new lineup (pdf)
Only 14 channels changed positions. I’ll list them here with explanations on why they moved:
49 to 19: BET (a)
74 to 51: Bravo (b)
50 to 14: CSPAN (a)
70 to 07: CSPAN2 (a)
72 to 24: Discovery Health (a)
51 to 70: E! (c)
07 to 95: Jewelry TV (d)
73 to 50: Lifetime Movie (e)
71 to 65: National Geographic (f)
76 to 97: Telemundo (a)
75 to 49: TV Land (d)
65 to 71: VH1 (f)
Of course, the ones you’re most interested in are:
19 to 622: PGTV
14 to 614: Polk County School Board
These were moved to get all the highbrow channels together in the 600s.
Of course, it didn’t work for me. A call to Brighthouse and I found there was a code missing in my account. They’ve reset everything. I’m told it should start working soon.
I just wish MLB would get off their butts and get the Baseball Network going.
a) Moves from Standard to Basic Service
b) Moves from Digital to Standard Service
c) So they could put WE next to E! ?
d) Because no one knew why such a low number was wasted on a channel we all skipped. Wait, they moved CSPAN there. Nevermind.
e) Filling in open channels
f) Because having MTV next to VH1 made too much sense.
