If you’re downtown today, you’ve notice everyone preparing for tonight’s Christmas parade.
They’re doing it by setting up chairs, wrapping them with police line ribbon, and trusting no one will move them.
That is another reason why I love Lakeland. Dropping off chairs would never work back in Louisville, Kentucky during the Derby parade. True, the Derby draws a much greater crowd. They even sell tickets for the viewing stands. However, if you want a prime spot, you better stay with those chairs. They wouldn’t be there when you got off work.
I think next year, I’ll borrow all my neighbor’s lawn chairs, take the day off, and claim a block. At $5 a chair….
For charity, of course.
Note to the person who placed those particular chairs near The Terrace Hotel: You’re about a half a block away from the parade route.
