Batter Up!

Yes, it’s time for baseball again. The Detroit Tigers and the Cleveland Indians have released their 2008 Spring Training schedules. It’s the last year for the Indians in Winter Haven. I think they were forced out to make room for a rail hub.*

The Indians and Tigers will play each other twice in Winter Haven and twice in Lakeland. The Indians will host nine different teams over 15 games in their final season at Chain of Lakes Stadium. The Tigers will start Spring Training with their usual game against Florida Southern, then host 15 games at Joker Merchant Stadium.

I’ll have the schedules on a 2008 Spring Training page later today, but here are the games most fans seem to care about:

1:05 pm, Tue. March 15, Yankees at Tigers
1:05 pm, Tue., March 25, Yankees at Indians

Evidently, the defending champion Boston Red Sox have no plans to travel to Polk County in 2008.

The Indians single game tickets go on sale Dec. 15 at 10 a.m while the Tigers single game tickets are up for grabs Jan. 12. Those details will also be on the 2008 Spring Training page.

* – Yes, I was kidding.

  1. The rail hub thing is funny! I’m actually glad to see the Indians go, but a little worried about how it will affect WH’s local economy . . . I know a bunch of restaraunts who make a ton of money off of Spring Training!
