Buying a Condo

November 23, 2007 | Chuck Welch | Your Thoughts?

The news is good and bad if you’re in the market for a condo here in Lakeland:

For Lakeland and Winter Haven, existing home sales fell 38 percent to 790 units sold while the median sales price fell 3 percent to $170,400. For existing condo sales, Lakeland had a 47 percent drop while median sales prices fell 21 percent – the largest drop in the state – to $100,000. — Tampa Bay Business Journal

However, the drop in price seems to be made up by the increase in insurance:

Ten years ago, for example, the average cost of home insurance in America was $455 per year. Today, it is an estimated $886 for much less insurance. — The Ledger.
