Blogging 1 on 1

I know I’ve written about this before, but in light of Lorrie Delk Walker’s post about our one-on-one blogging tutorial, I’m going to write about it again…and with an offer.

If you want to write a blog….please do so. It is very easy. You simply need to want to write.

Notice I didn’t say you need to know how to write. You’re not writing for Lakeland’s hometown newspaper, The Ledger. This is for you..and your family, and friends, and that nice lady at the church. So just string words together until you’ve expressed what you need to express.

You truly are unique. No one else has your experience or your point of view. So write what you see, and what you think about it.

No one may agree with you, but who cares? You not writing for fame, fortune, or fritos.

Blogging is the easiest thing in the world to do. There are no rules. Wing it.

If you’re worried you can’t run the software. I’ll show you.

For free.

And I don’t care what you write about: NASCAR, breastfeeding, or even railroads. I’ll meet you at Black and Brew. We’ll chat for an hour or so. And at the end you’ll be a blogger.

I was once a manager of a volunteer department. One thing I told every applicant: if you’re volunteering only to help others…you don’t have a good enough reason. You better get something personal out of it.

So, why am I offering this? (1) I liked helping Lorrie. It gave me a chance to meet another Lakeland resident. (2) The more bloggers there are in Lakeland the better. There are so many areas of the city that still need coverage. (3) I try to teach my daughter by example. How can I be a good citizen if I can’t share what I know?

Because of my schedule, I’ll have to do this after school on Mondays. I believe it is best if you start out with a free blog: so I’ll show you how to post at Polk Voice or Blogger. You can always move it you love it.

If you want to schedule some time: just comment here or email me: news [at] lakelandlocal.com

Notice this offer is for anyone that can make it to Black and Brew. It doesn’t matter where you live.

Je ne parle pas fran├žais. I can only show you how to blog in English.
