It’s no secret my daughter and I have a Black and Brew habit. The funny thing is, neither of us drink coffee. There are lots of other reasons why we go and one is that Black and Brew is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
OK, No, they’re not. They have normal hours.
It just seems like we find an unlocked door and a friendly face every time we get a jones for chocolate cake or a sandwich.
So, I was shocked to find a sign stating the shop is closing Sunday (Sept. 19th) at 1 p.m. for a special event.
You know at 1:05 my daughter will mention I owe her a slice of chocolate cake for some special reward. It matters not I’ve completely forgotten about said reward. She has a steel trap mind for chocolate cake rewards.
I wouldn’t have felt blindsided if I had bothered to input the Black and Brew Special Events into my calendar.
So, rush down on Sunday morning for your morning paper — we suggest Lakeland’s own Tampa Tribune or the ever present Ledger (printed right here in Lakeland!)
Just please leave that chocolate cake in the back center of the display case. It has my daughter’s initials on it. Well, one initial. She got behind the counter when I was reading the Tribune’s CSX editorial.
The proceeding post was not a paid announcement for Black and Brew, the Tampa Tribune, or The Ledger. My daughter did not get behind the counter and that cake is unmarked. Purchase it in good confidence it is fresh. But, why would you want to take cake out of the mouth of a small child?)
