Bill Henry

Bill Henry, former Major League Baseball pitcher, passed away on Monday. The Ledger ran his obituary, and added a short article yesterday.

One interesting point the article didn’t mention has to do with Henry’s playing age. After Ruben Gomez’s last game on May 2, 1967 until August 19, 1968 Henry was the oldest player in the National League. The only American League player older than Henry was Hoyt Wilhelm.

Mea Culpa: It looks like Lakeland’s Bill Henry wasn’t the MLB player. The Ledger obit had a birth date. The baseball site I referenced had the real Bill Henry’s birth date and I missed the discrepancy.

Update: The Houston Chronicle published a story about the MLB Bill Henry.
