Lakeland Neighborhoods

Lakeland Florida Neighborhood mapOver the years Lakeland has grown by piece and parcel. The Lakeland Community Development Department (LCDD) has identified 50 neighborhoods though much of the old city limits.

I’ve created a Lakeland Neighborhood Boundaries Map based on the LCDD’s map. It isn’t perfect. The LCDD uses official city parcel maps to fix the neighborhood boundaries. However, the map full city map isn’t that detailed. I also had to draw the boundary lines freehand and approximate when the Google map didn’t match the LCDD map. I did try to match the colors of the LCDD map when possible. All-in-all you should be able to use my map as an online version of the LCDD map.

Currently, clicking on a neighborhood only gives the name, but I’ll add photos and other information as time goes by. As Lakeland Local continues, I’ll occasionally refer to this map and give the neighborhood name where appropriate.

Here’s a list of the neighborhoods on the map:

  1. Dear Chuck –

I think the map idea is great, but I didn’t know Lakeland stopped at the Polk Parkway. As someone who grew up in Lakeland, I was excited to know what the name and boundaries for my neighborhood are. (Directly south of the Parkway and west of South Florida Ave).

Is there a reason that you stopped where you did? Do you have any data on this for expansion?

Please don’t leave us south-towners out of the picture.

    Thank you.

  3. I made that map three years when I was very new to Lakeland. The neighborhoods are based on the information supplied by Lakeland Community Development Department (LCDD).

It’s time to contact them and see if they have any other data.

    Thanks.
